Every dog that receives more daily handling than animal shelter staff can provide has a better chance of being adopted.

Please join the volunteer staff at your local  animal shelters in delivering a comfortable stay for these wonderful pets.

Volunteeer Benefits:

Volunteering at your local animal shelter means meeting new friends, learning new skills, and giving a dog a better chance at adoption.

Small dogs come in and go out quickly in some animal shelters
Check your animal shelters frequently for small dogs--they are very popular!

Do you believe it can happen?

We do,  we have seen it, in our own community... A reduction in the number of shelter dogs!

Thanks to a supportive community!:

2011 was a banner year for Advocates!

We produced a positive shelter dog commercial (Powder Ridge Productions) Now Valley residents see what AWESOME dogs there are to adopt at the shelters!

We are featured year round at Vagabond Blues Coffeehouse, with a Pet of the Week frame that has brought in numerous adopters to the Valley shelter.

We are featured at Beartooth theater pub, in Anchorage, encouraging adoptions for AAAC!

We held monthly events at all PetZoo locations, sharing our mission with customers, encouraging pariticpation in local animal shelters, and we even added a preventitive measure: microchipping! Preventing more dogs and cats from becoming wards of shelters!

We met alot of wonderful pet owners throughout the year, and they have been very supportive in their donations, which has allowed us to accomplish the goals we did in 2011!

Thank you for your support.

Now 2012...OUR Goals are no less challenging this year.

We are putting together an educational program, we hope to launch in the Valley schools, which will bring together dog safety, and the compassionate bond between humans and animals.  Building compassion in a community through education.

We are expanding our search for venues for our Opt to Adopt framed art work.  These posters DO  make a difference for shelter dogs, we need your help in displaying them.  Contact us if you are interested in helping your local shelter dogs find new homes.

Pet New Year, February 4, 2012 at Alaska Mill and Feed, Anchorage!

Sponsored by AAAC, educational and fun events!  ASPCA will be onhand for microchips, and AAAC will offer vaccinations for your pets.

The two beautiful dogs shown on this page

were both adopted from an animal shelter.

These are just a couple of the gorgeous animals you will find at your local shelter.

Statistics show that animal shelters may have up to 25% purebred dogs that are homeless.
