Operation: Homebound Huskies

Rescue efforts of the Matsu Animal Shelter

brings overwhelming support from a small community!

Follow these dogs story:

Less than 13 huskies still need homes, thanks to the rescue groups that opened their "hearts and kennels"!

See where these dogs are finding new homes!

Volunteers at the Matsu Animal Shelter make it happen during "Husky Social Hours"!  These huskies are being socialized so that they become more adoptable. After this program many dogs continued on to foster families, some were adopted immediately.  Thank you, to all the Matsu volunteeers that continue to make this program a success!

Homebound to Seattle and her new home!

SammiJo was adopted!

Storybook adoptions

SammiJo, forward, Missy and Molly in the animal control truck heading to the airport for their trip to Seattle

SammiJo is still hiding out. We've gone into her kennel a few times and reached into her box and petted her, but we are letting her settle in a bit more first. Everyday is a new adventure!

05/14/11
We are going to "remodel" her dog boxes and remove one of the "walls" so she can still hide out, but it will also open her world so she can see the other kids, while still remaining in her "safe" place.

We are finally getting some drier weather down here this weekend, so we will get some pics and send them your way! Smiley emoticon

Puppy Grins!

Homebound to Seattle

Got the two girls, Missy and Molly, home safe and sound, put them both in a big run. They both went in the same big box together. Not too spooked, they went nose to nose with the 3 old ones near them and no growling or ruffled fur, so I think they will be fine. Nice, calm and sweet dogs.

More wary and unsure than scared.

Please pass this note and my thanks along to Julie and her crew.

I was met this morning with big wagging tails and woo-woos when I went to feed!
When I went in the kennel, one ducked in the dog house, but came out when I put the food down. The other one kind of circled me and dove in to the food right away. .
I am looking forward to having time this weekend to sit in the kennels and try to get to know them better. I have lots of yummy treats and patience.
Thank you so much for all the work that was done to get them this far. They are both lovely dogs.

Homebound to Seattle

Elias, Elliott, and Leconte took flight to Seattle (Adopt A Husky Rescue) Alaska Airlines employees helped to make their trip a safe one!

Homebound to Houston, TX

Kaladi and Simba arrived in Houston, and were immediately adopted by their foster "Mom"!

Quote: "They are so beautiful!"

Homebound to TUCSON

Miah is adjusting well to her new home in Tucson.  She took a tour of the town, when she escaped a fenced yard, but she is safely back, and coming along great.  Her foster mom says she is even learning to like treats, but still has no idea what toys are.
The "boys" JC and Fonzie seemed to adjust well to the sunshine of Phoenix, AZ.  JC even took a little siesta on the asphalt. Is he really an Alaskan dog?
Top: Irish's personality has really come out since she left her kennel in Matsu Valley Alaska!  She has learned to walk on a leash, be finicky about food!  She has her foster buying her canned food!  Yukon has since come out of his shell,, too!  At first he would not come out of his crate, but he finally figured out that irish was having all the fun going on walks and eating well.  SO...he now comes out when his foster Mom brings the leash for Irish, and he insists on going too!
Irish and Yukon one month after leaving Alaska, loving life in Arizona. Stopped to play for this photo!
